Written in the Stars

So... this post is inspired by a message I got from one of my sitters awaiting a reading; he had asked me about my life path and destiny number. I had already known my life path number (8), but I hadn't heard of "destiny numbers," so I calculated my own using the letters of my name and found it to be 3, which I discovered to be pretty stinkin' accurate/appropriate. Here are the key tidbits for this number that align with me:

  • The direction of growth in your lifetime will be toward a more creative and inspirational nature.
  • This path also leads to establishing yourself as an inspirational person spreading optimism and cheerfulness wherever you reside or travel.
  • Keyword for 3 Destiny: embracing the joy of living and helping others to do the same.
  • A large part of your mission centers around raising spirits of your fellow man.
  • This destiny does incline you along a variety of lines that may include writing, speaking, acting, or teaching. An interest in the arts.
  • You have the destiny to sell yourself or any product that comes along. You may be a natural salesman.
  • You are imaginative in your presentation and are a pleasure to be around.
  • As you mature, you must become an optimistic person that seems ever enthusiastic about life and living.
  • Friendly & loving - people like you because you are charming and such a good conversationalist.
  • You must develop an ability to communicate effectively in order to inspire others. It's your role in life to inspire and motivate.
  • Opportunities open for you as you become increasingly social.
  • Negative side for 3 Destiny: you tend to scatter your forces and simply be too easygoing. Avoid dwelling on trivial matters, especially gossip.
I mean, damn. That sums me and my path up a lot better than my life path number, 8, which is centered around materialism or being down-to-earth. I'd say 8 is only half-accurate for my personality, because 8 does suggest that we are people who are driven toward success and fulfilling ambitions, which is pretty accurate for me.

I was also thinking about astrology yesterday because I was learning about the 12 Houses to add in my research journal. I don't know if I mentioned it before, but I calculated one of those free online natal charts and found it to be incredibly accurate, even down to specific details about my personality. It just puts even more of an emphasis on the idea that everything is pre-planned in this world. We've got astrology and numerology and other methods of divination that tell us exactly who we are and what we're here to accomplish. And yet - for some strange reason - people don't consider this. In fact, they embrace it. They reach out and wonder: "What should I expect in my future?"

But the moment you say "you're not in control of your life; free will is an illusion," they freak out. Wait. What? So you want to know what to expect in your future, but you don't want to think that you're not in control?

Yes, you could argue that the future changes based on a given moment. I once believed that firmly - it was one of the reasons I always disliked people asking me when they would meet a soul connection or twinflame. But when you think about all the factors that are building and shaping this world... are they really the result of what we think or choose to create? Or are they the result of something much grander?

I did experience a brief moment of doubt when I was world-building for Crucible yesterday. No matter how I look at it, though, I keep arriving at the same answer. Of course, like everyone else, I'd like to think that we shape our own lives. I certainly did before. However, I don't have enough experience with manifestation to be able to tell whether that's how things work. I've only manifested smaller things related to school and whatnot.

We come into this world as a specific person with a specific vibration and plan. I mean, when you even consider our birth - you can't say that's not pre-planned. All this stuff has to come from somewhere. "Things always have been and always will be," right?

I just think it's contradictory, I guess. That we - as spiritual folk - put such an emphasis on being your own Creator, and yet preach ideas that suggest free will is an illusion at the same time. One of the most common new age teachings is that we have a soul plan which outlines types of "lessons" to learn, based on past lives and whatnot. There are teachings of karma and reincarnation, of spirit guides who give you everything at the "right time," of precognition, and so forth. Ideas that give you a sense of "timing," or a sense that you're not in control. Of course, we give ourselves the happy illusion that we are in control by saying, "We - as souls - made this decision. We brought this upon ourselves."

Everything has a source. Even if you take on the perspective that we are Creators in limited human shells, why are we driven toward specific paths? How would you explain the arrival of new information, signs, answers, and so on at the "perfect time"? I've experienced much synchronicity in the past few months, and I can't understand any reason to its existence other than it representing the pre-defined forces that are helping my path unfold.

I'm sure more information will come to me at the "right time." For now, though, I'm going to treat myself to series 5 of Merlin, because I discovered last night that a lovely French user has been uploading the episodes, although in many parts. But hey - I'll take what I can get.

I will say that I watched 5x01 in bed last night, and holy crap - the feels! Is it just me, or did the Arthur/Merlin bromance become a heck of a lot stronger? Jesus.

Looking forward to a livestream session today.

  1. About Merlin... YES. They seem to have stepped up the bromance a bit in my opinion for series five. There's some really good moments in there I think :P. Is it sad to say I prefer Merlin/Arthur to Arthur/Gwen? :3
