The Infinity of Mind

by elzux @ deviantART
Came across this quote from someone I follow on tumblr:

Have no expectations of our futures, and surrender to the flow of the Universe; then we will find endless possibilities and even ones we did not foresee.

I guess you could say my biggest question right now is: why the hell are we here? It all points to the age-old question of the purpose of life, but it's definitely something that boggles my mind. I suppose it would make sense if we - as the universe - had no other way to pass the time. There are many theories behind our existence, and while I'm leaning more toward a "universal consciousness" type perspective, I'm afraid I - in my limited state - am having difficulties getting some of the details right for myself. I'm not so much focused on why we're here as I am on the guidelines. Meaning, in what way should we be conducting ourselves? Do we build a future based on our desires, or do we go with the flow?

I would assume that, because we are not separate from nature, we would follow nature's "guidelines," and live life in the moment. It'd definitely be ideal. I'd be a very content individual if I knew I didn't have to think about how I'm going to sustain myself in the future. This society tends to cause a lot of anxiety in people because things aren't as easy as having shelter and going out to acquire food and water. No. We have to plan and organize and build foundations to ensure we can fit into the system and sustain ourselves while serving as sheep and slaves to those who are "in charge." Yeah, it sounds a bit snobbish on my end, but it's true. I'm sick and tired of this "system." If I wasn't content with myself (or devoted to change), I'd probably hurl myself off a cliff or put a bullet through my brain. I can hardly call this existence "life."

Which leads me to further contemplate all this. As I mentioned in my previous post: manifestation implies that we are lacking something we feel we need. And if we feel we need something, then we are not being nourished in some way. In our modern society, this is primarily on a spiritual level. We have all this "stuff," but it's not making us happy. We need spiritual/emotional abundance. We need an activity (or sadly, a job) that makes us content. We need to surround ourselves with people who uplift us. We need to express ourselves creatively...

However - if we find satisfaction in our current lives, we have no need for manifestation. Of course... in this damned society, that's quite a challenge. And you know - maybe that's the point. Maybe the "manifestation" or "law of attraction" teachings are designed to help us free ourselves from our mental and spiritual enslavement.

Or maybe... maybe they're not meant to do anything at all, other than give us the illusion of having what we desire. True manifestation is supposed to come with a lot of energy, right? Either negative or positive... but I still feel like it could be a cover-up.

Think about it: Adonai already has everything it could ever want. So what would be the point of applying this to physical life? Just for the "experience"? I suppose. But that wouldn't do it much good, would it? I think for us to truly get the most out of incarnation, we ought to arrange things so that we don't get everything we want. Or - at least - come up with a pre-scripted story.

There are millions of people on this planet who have little to no desire to explore the realm of the divine or the spiritual. They don't consider themselves "Creators." They just go about life in the way that seems to make the most sense: following a path that leads to survival and - hopefully - financial abundance. They don't commune with nature; they don't express themselves that much; they don't think about how they're related to the people who surround them. They just walk blindly on a path they've been forced to follow.

When you consider it, physical life is pointless when your head is always in the clouds. There's a reason why we're in these limiting bodies (or are them, depending on your outlook). There's a reason why we are grounded with our feet planted to the earth. There's a reason why we don't have all the answers behind our existence.

With that in mind, perhaps the ultimate spiritual truth is simple: we exist. What's the point in trying to figure out how we came to be or where we may be going? Of course, history can give us a lot of information - if it's accurate. But modern-day humans don't live in the present. They either live in the past or the future.

We're everything and nothing at the same time. Does the universe seek answers as much as we do? Or is that just a human trait?

Agh. I'm getting all these thoughts and concepts piling in my head, but I can't quite put them all in words yet. I may have to stew on this for another day or two to be able to elaborate further. It's pretty agonizing. I'm glad to be a seeker; however, when you come to a conclusion that pretty much says: "it's all pointless," it does make you want to slap yourself. Or hug yourself in a dark corner.

All these people are talking of ascension and awakening, but what exactly are we ascending/awakening to? More advanced consciousness? What will the world be like if more and more of us begin questioning life in this way? If all this "shifting" stuff does happen, that suggests we'll be straying from physical-based life, which means there will be something different to receive from earth incarnation. We'll be reflecting our true nature - or, at least, what we think is our true nature.

This goes back to what I was writing about human-oriented spirituality... or the Earth story. That perhaps all the stuff we think is part of spiritual Earth is really only confined to our planet and its vibrational layers. Why do we project ideas that originated on Earth into a realm that can't even be properly defined? That's awfully presumptuous of us.

Anyway, I can hear my brain sizzling, so I'll come back to this later.
