"We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make our world."
I've also been seeing other relevant ones, such as:
- "Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart give yourself to it."
- "The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry for the future, or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly."
- "No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again."
- "Happiness comes when your work and words are of benefit to yourself and others."
- "The whole secret of existence is to have no fear. Never fear what will become of you, depend on no one. Only the moment you reject all help are you freed."
So yeah. Those are some pretty empowering words for me. They give me even more confidence - especially that last one, because it's fear that's holding me back. I mainly fear one thing: getting my parents to understand. Of course I worry just a bit about being able to sustain myself, but you know what? I can pump up the confidence and self-assurance to manifest abundance for myself.
I just don't know how to bring this up to my dad. Because I know the moment I do, he's going to be all: "WHAT?" or "Are you kidding me?" There's a part of me that hopes he might actually understand. It just sucks, because my parents have a very inaccurate image of me. I have to be my old self around them, because for some reason, they refuse to see anyone else but her. They associate "me" with bitterness, introversion, sarcasm, and spite. So when I act "out of character," I just end up mocked, as if my true behavior is a joke or a false act.
Because they have an inaccurate image of me, it'll make it quite difficult to explain why I want to venture down this path. My parents obviously don't know about my beliefs, so they don't understand why I want to do what I want to do. And of course they're very practical. They'll do everything in their power to try and convince me to stay in school. I'm actually thinking about merely asking for a few quarters off so I can see if I still want to ditch school after a while. That would mean I'd have to work, of course, but that's not a big deal.
Especially since I made a first step toward my dreams several minutes ago. I gathered up the courage to ask that favorite spiritual shop of mine how one goes about working as someone who offers services... so we'll see what they have to say. I was going to mention my being a spirit/psychic artist, but I didn't want to sound egotistical, especially when I don't have as much experience as all the other "professionals" working there (you know... the ones who've had 10+ years of experience or who've worked under certain teachers for a while). I don't know how many interested psychics they get wanting to work there, so I hope I don't get rejected too early. In fact, I'm not even sure what those psychics are like. I get good vibes from most of them (from what I can pick up from their photos), so it might be cool to work alongside them. Maybe they can even teach me a few things.
If they seem interested in me, then I'll probably be assertive and approach my dad. I'm going to manifest my ideal result, so... wish me luck.

ReplyDeleteGirl! I want to smack you upside the head right now :p Don't give me any of that "I don't have enough experience" garbage. When are you going to get it through your head that what you do with your spiritual art, is so unique to what other psychics are doing, that people are going to eat your stuff up like crazy!!! Other psychics don't give you something tangible to take home and hang on your wall. And the very few who do, and from what I've seen from those who do, your talent and artistic expression blows them all out of the water!!! And I'm not just saying that to pump your ego up, I'm speaking the truth!
What you do is not JUST a reading, you are also giving them a piece of ART!!! That's two for the price of one. And I know you don't think that your computer generated spirit portraits are worth putting a price on, but you are dead wrong! Why don't you make up a flyer with some samples of your spirit portraits, and put an email address on it. And ask that shop to advertise what you can do. If you don't have the supplies to be able to make a canvas or sketchpad drawing at the shop, then start getting people to contact you through the internet. If you want, you can even assemble the team and do an online streaming and we can help you with the reading part if you need it. Then just email the portrait and reading back to the person after they've made a payment via PayPal. It's no different from other artists doing paid commission work from online.
I've been trying to tell you all along that what you've already been doing, CAN and WILL make you some money. If you've got to get a job to make some cash just so you can drop out of school for a while, this is a damn good option for you. I don't want to tell you what to do, but you could get a serious head start on getting that lifestyle you're wanting by going this route. You don't have to do it forever, but it sure can get you enough exposure to help build upon and achieve your dream. Please, just give this a try.
Well, no matter how you look at it, someone who's been doing their thing for 10+ years will be seen as more reliable than someone who's only practiced for 2. XD Of course I have confidence when it comes to my work, but it's the truth! People looking for readings either have to be drawn to your work (if doing spirit art or something similar), your experience, or your prices..
DeleteI have a lot of motivation on improving the technical skill of my readings, so it's not like I'm saying mine suck. I notice people pay $80 for simple sketches (and little to no "artistic skill")... If I'm going to work from an internet business, my "experience" won't matter as much. But if I choose to work from a local shop, then it probably will.
What you described is probably how I'm going to approach the internet-based business. If I'm out of school, then I'll be doing traditional media, too.
I'm a little confused now though. XD In your last post you were all like "BE CAREFUL~" and now you're like "YOU'RE GONNA BE AWESOME!" ...hahaha.
