House 5 - Guide

House 5 - Creativity & Good Fortune

At first, I was hesitant to select Guide as one of my personal eight, but when I read Myss' description of Guide, and thought about my desires, and what I've been helping people with, I realize it was a good fit. I was going to select Teacher... until I realized I don't "teach" so much as "guide." I suppose I do teach people about themselves, but everyone does that to some degree, and I feel when I connect to someone and perform a reading, I'm guiding him to a higher awareness of himself. Helping him reach a state of understanding and clarity.

The fifth house is all about creativity, sexuality, children, good fortune, love, spontaneity, abundance, and opportunity. The archetype present here represents the strengths that you should most rely on to make things happen. The Shadow aspect of this house manifests as "the expression of creative of sexual fire out of control, as in the misuse of sexual power or creativity for selfish or manipulative ends."

It seems like Guide is a good fit here. Myss describes Guide as someone who has a history of devoting himself to teaching others about the Divine - most often using his own spiritual experiences in his teachings. He tries to encourage others to see the Divine in every aspect of life.

This blog is the perfect example of my Guide shining through: a personal journey through spirituality's lows and highs. It's a documentation of my experiences, consisting of my realizations that through it all, the Divine is still present in one form or another. This blog is one of the ways I'm expressing my Guide nature - and I didn't realize it until just now.

Guide is the perfect dancing partner for the qualities of the fifth house. It helps me with love, with creativity, sexuality, opportunity, and good fortune. It reminds me how to approach all these things, and even manifests to help others in these departments, as well. I haven't had too many issues with the Shadow aspect of Guide (or the fifth house), but I do recall a few moments in the past when I did feel a little arrogance bubbling through. That's to be expected, though.

Here's hoping that Guide will guide me down the path that suits me best.
